Sneak Peek …at Chickens?!

Hi-there! Largent here!

Chickens are going to be playing a part in the story later on and I just had to share this image of them! I don’t know why, but I find cartoon chickens very funny. :-)

I also wanted to say a big Thank You to the folks who came out for the Dallas Webcomics Expo last Saturday! It was great fun meeting everyone! I passed out a lot of postcards! We’ve made it up to three readers and I’m hoping that one of the people I met there will volunteer to become reader number four! :-)

I did manage to meet a few of the other webcomickers and they were all great!

I met Brian Powers of liltoon. He’s got some ideas about adding some animated content with his characters which sounded very cool to me!

I also met Hannah Scott of After Lily, who was nice enough to let me read one of her books!

And I finally got to meet Samantha Wikan of Life’s a Witch, who made the whole day for me by telling me that she printed out copies of The Wannabe Pirates to put in her kids’ lunchboxes! How cool is that?

I didn’t actually get to meet Barry Buchanan of Don’t Feed the Geek, but the rest of his family stopped by and were great!

I spent several minutes talking to Bill Hinds without ever realizing that I was talking to *the* Bill Hinds who has been drawing Tank McNamara for 35 years! Maybe it’s good that I didn’t know, since I might’ve been too star struck to talk. :-)

Big thanks to the three guys who organized DWEX: Jonathan Caustrita (of Tiki Coladas), Michael Moreno (of Ted and Zed) and Thomas Overbeck (of Times Like This)

And a special thanks to my sister Becky and my friends Terri & Xanthy who helped me man the table all day!

McCrary and I want to find a convention that we can both attend sometime next year. We’ll put the info up here as soon as we can work it out!

I found out about your comic at DWEX, and I’m really enjoying it. Next time we meet at a convention/expo, I’ll be there as a fan of your work and not be all, “Duh, what’s this?” :)

Thanks, Mr. POSSLQ! I think the vast majority of the people that I handed postcards to had that same reaction! :-) Glad you’re enjoying the strip and thanks for commenting!

  3. cartoon chickens=VERY funny

only three readers? Okay, I’ll mention you on my blog(s)… maybe get you up to oh, five or six? XD

  4. largento says:

Haha! That would be awesome, Arlene!

    Arlene,

McCrary here! Largent and I are not too proud to accept all the help we can get! Tell your friends far and wide– and thanks a lot for following the strip!

  6. okay, well I got this posted here:

    http://nthdraft.livejournal.com/52189.html

which gets more traffic than my writing blog, but I’m setting up a linkroll there for recommended sites and I’ll put this up there too.

(and my LJ just got a secondhand link-to-a-link to comic blog Publisher’s Weekly so hopefully any traffic that goes link surfing will also stumble across your writeup just below what got linked! Cross fingers and spit!)

Very cool, Arlene! Thanks! …for the link and the kind words!
